Position Title: Staff Accountant

Reports To:Accounting Manager

Hiring Rate: $25 per hour

FLSA Status:Part Time / Non-Exempt

20 hours per week

General Purpose:

Scholars Unlimited is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, comprehensive after school and summer learning programs to elementary school children in metro Denver. We collaborate with school districts and generally provide our programs in the schools our students attend. Currently, our programs are offered in Denver, Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster public schools.

In partnership with the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will support the finance department with a wide variety of accounting responsibilities. Cross functional responsibilities include working with our Development, Programs, and Human Resources departments.

Essential Functions:

Enter AP Invoices into Bill.com for workflow approval
Record AP vendor invoices into MIP
Pay vendor invoices via MIP
Record monthly credit card statements in MIP
Record auto-pay disbursements
Record AR customer invoices in MIP
Record various donations
Apply AR invoice payments
Perform vendor maintenance
Perform bank reconciliations
Responsible for the administration of credit card users
Book payroll journal entries into MIP

Other Duties:

Perform other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of Scholars Unlimited.

Supervisory Duties:

None

Benefits

This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits such as paid time off (PTO), holidays, health insurance, or participation in the retirement plan.
Eligible for overtime as defined by the Colorado Overtime & Minimum Pay Standards Order
In accordance with the Healthy Families Workplace Act, employers must provide at least 1 hour of accrued, paid sick leave per 30 hours of work, up to 48 hours per year. Paid sick leave will begin accruing upon hire date.

Work Schedule:

Part-time, 20 hours per week (4 days/week, 5 hours/day), with hours scheduled between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM. This position is primarily remote following initial training.

Compensation:

Hiring Rate is $25 per hour

Education

2 years of education in accounting finance, or business administration is preferred

Experience

2 years experience in finance and accounting
Experience with Abila MIP accounting software is preferred
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting and grant management
Familiarity with developing and monitoring processes, procedures, and policies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of Scholars Unlimited’s vision, mission, and values
Ability to analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision-making.
Possess ahigh level of accuracy in preparing financial reports and reconciling accounts.
Capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively in a dynamic environment.
Proficiency in identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records.
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions) and familiarity with Google Workspace.
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for reporting to stakeholders and collaborating with teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must complete and pass criminal history background checks prior to the start of employment
