About the Organization
We’re a rapidly growing nonprofit organization operating with the pace, innovation, and ambition of a for-profit. Our mission-driven team is expanding programs across multiple states and embracing new funding strategies to increase our impact. As we grow, we’re building a more strategic and organized development function to support our bold vision—and we’re looking for the right person to help carry it out.
About the Role
The Development Associate will serve as the organizational engine behind our fundraising efforts. This isn’t a traditional grant writing role—but it does require someone who knows the development world, understands the grant lifecycle, and can bring order to a fast-moving environment.
You'll manage workflows, keep external grant consultants on track, support donor engagement efforts, and ensure no detail is dropped. This is a great fit for someone who is exceptionally organized, thrives in change, and wants to be part of building something from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the full grant process from sourcing to submission, leveraging existing proposals and working closely with consultants.
- Maintain and clean up Salesforce CRM for development tracking and reporting.
- Support donor stewardship efforts with high-quality communication, updates, and engagement reports.
- Organize timelines, deadlines, and documentation related to development operations.
- Collaborate closely with leadership to carry out the organization’s strategic funding vision—no need to create it, just execute it flawlessly.
- Lead coordination across development contractors, consultants, and part-time administrative staff.
- Build systems to keep the development calendar, recurring donor campaigns, and grant submissions on track.
What You’ll Tackle in the First 3–6 Months
- Develop a 12-month grant strategy calendar and engagement plan.
- Produce a donor stewardship report to guide long-term relationship-building.
- Audit current grant cycle and identify key deadlines and renewal opportunities.
- Organize internal processes to support external grant consultants and ensure timely submissions.
- Take ownership of CRM cleanup and implement usage systems that stick.
What We’re Looking For
- Familiarity with the full grant process and development operations (not just grant writing).
- Strong administrative and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple timelines, consultants, and support staff without dropping details.
- Comfort working in a high-growth, ever-evolving environment—resilient and proactive personality is a must.
- Clear communicator and active listener who can carry out direction and keep leadership accountable.
- Organized almost to a fault—spreadsheets and systems are your love language.
- Open to feedback, coachable, and driven by mission and impact.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years in a development or nonprofit operations role.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
- Experience supporting or coordinating grant submissions.
- Previous event planning or donor engagement experience is a plus.
- Experience managing contractors or external partners.
Work Style & Culture
This is a remote role that supports a leadership team known for setting high standards, moving quickly, and genuinely appreciating people who get the job done. The culture is entrepreneurial, mission-focused, and fast-paced—with seasons of chaos and calm. You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply about the work and push themselves to grow every day.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $70,000 – $75,000 annually
- This is a full-time exempt position.
