We are seeking a forward-thinking individual to join our team as a full-time senior accounting assistant. The senior accounting assistant is responsible for managing the monthly accounting process for a larger portfolio of clients. This includes collecting and processing client data, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and generating accurate and timely financial statements.
The role requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset. As a senior accounting assistant, you are expected to question existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency. This professional role is critical to delivering timely, accurate monthly financials and supporting operational excellence across the accounting function. The ideal candidate is driven by accuracy, consistency, and accountability, with a strong desire to question, improve, and streamline processes. This position does require standard work hours with flexibility to meet client deadlines.
The compensation rage for this non-exempt position begins at $26 per hour and may be hybrid or remote. Candidates residing in Wisconsin or Minnesota will only be considered.
Responsibilities Include:

Maintain an assigned portfolio of clients and ensure monthly financials are completed accurately and on time.

Process and post client data, including bank transactions, credit card activity, and other financial records.

Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.

Prepare journal entries and make necessary accruals and adjustments.

Generate monthly financial statements in accordance with firm standards.

Communicate with clients to clarify missing or unclear documentation.

Identify discrepancies or unusual trends in client financial data and escalate as appropriate.

Document and follow established procedures for consistency.

Participate in process review discussions and contribute suggestions for improvements.

Collaborate with accountants, assistants, tax team, and other internal staff to ensure client needs are met.

Participate in team meetings, training, and firm-wide process initiatives.
Requirements:

Associate’s degree in accounting or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).

3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Thomson Reuters, etc.).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other cloud-based tools.

Ability to manage multiple client deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
