POSITION DESCRIPTION
Learning Zone Teacher
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB.
The Learning Zone Teacher is responsible for supervision of students and participants in the Learning Zone program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Engage children, be intentional about creating healthy relationships within the Learning Zone.
- Work with the Learning Zone Director and Lead Teachers to create a comfortable, safe learning environment within the program.
- Provide homework help and tutoring as needed within the program.
- Lead/oversee class activities within the program (snack, games, lessons, enrichment opportunities etc.)
- Supervise children in the classrooms and all areas of the building and Kroc campus.
- Provide the children with positive reinforcements and role modeling.
- Keep and maintain all public and restricted areas in a neat and clean fashion.
- Assist with assessments and evaluations of children.
- Generate legible and accurate accident, incident and behavioral reports as required.
- Adhere to the Salvation Army’s KeepSafe policy and procedures. Ensuring child safety-immediately rectifying and/or reporting any potentially unsafe condition, reporting problem areas to the Learning Zone Assistant Director.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and required trainings.
- Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
- Uphold all state licensing rules.
- Represent The Salvation Army and its programs with a high degree of professionalism.
- Perform other assignments/duties as deemed necessary for the proper operation of the Learning Zone by the Learning Zone Director and Director of Programs.
- To be sensitive to the spiritual needs of people and offer to refer them to the Corps Officers and/or another spiritual leader at the Kroc Center.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
Qualifications:
- Must have an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to both share Him and serve Him.
- Bachelors or associates in Early Childhood Education preferred or working towards credits in above degree.
- Prior tutoring experience a plus.
- Experience working with children in an Afterschool setting.
- Have the ability to work and relate well with people.
- Able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
- Meet all health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department as well as The Salvation Army.
- Have a philosophy of education and child development consistent with that of the RJKCCC and The Salvation Army.
- Have the ability to work with students, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education including but not limited to:
- Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages.
- Sensitivity to children’s individual needs.
- Ability to use appropriate positive discipline consistently.
- Dependability.
- Ability to handle security and crisis situations, calmly.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.
- Obtain & stay current in CPR, First Aid,The Salvation Army KeepSAfe training.
- Complete trainings on both communicable disease and Child abuse

Pay: $12.00 per hour
