Preschool Teacher Assistant
Job Title: Child Development Teacher Assistant Pay Range: $10.00/hour
FLSA Status: Hourly
Reports to: AV Kennedy Preschool Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Child Development Center Director and the designated Child
Development Teacher, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Teacher
Assistant will support the lead teachers and director in order implement a successful Child
Development Program for ages infant - 3 Years old.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement the program design and YMCA standards for the Child Development Program.
- Assist the Child Development Teacher in the classroom, on the playground and on field trips
(or any other location on and off-site where the children may be).
- Provide a safe environment for all activities on and off site.
- Ability to multi-task
- Be alert, friendly and responsive to children, parents, and co-workers.
- Be on time and dependable.
- Enforce safety rules and report/treat/document any injuries.
- Attend staff meetings and training as required.
- Help keep program area clean. Complete housekeeping duties that are assigned.
- Carry out other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent must be at least 18 years old. Experience working with infants-4 year old’s is essential. The ability to effectively communicate with preschoolers, as well as parents is required.
Current CPR & First Aid certification is required. A CDA, TCC, or diploma in Early Childhood
Education and Bright From the Start experience is preferred. The Child Development Teacher Assistant must successfully complete the YMCA’s new employee orientation. A criminal background check is required.
