TITLE: Youth Development Professional (YDP)
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator
WORK SCHEDULE: Generally scheduled between 2:00p-6:00p Monday-Thursday
2:00-5:00 Friday
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To deliver a broad range of programs designed to increase opportunities for member success in three primary areas: academic success, healthy lifestyles and community involvement.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare youth for Success
- Actively supervise members by watching, counting and always listening. Use knowledge of each child’s development and abilities to anticipate and redirect potential problems.
- Establish positive, supportive relationships with the youth in the group to which you are assigned, including knowing each member’s name and something unique about each one.
- Implement site programs, activities & services that prepare youth for success and create an optimal Club experience.
- Help ensure a healthy & safe environment regarding facilities, equipment & supplies.
- Always act professionally with all staff, members & parents, modeling appropriate behaviors.
Program Development and Implementation
- Implement programs and activities adhering to schedules created by your supervisor.
- Demonstrate positive work habits including adhering to scheduled hours, being flexible with assignments, maintaining a positive attitude and calm demeanor.
- Provide positive interaction with members including being friendly, using appropriate voice and tone, showing respect to them as individuals, being aware of their developmental levels and using positive discipline techniques.
- Deliver fun and engaging programs to youth through our Club on the Go Program, when requested.
- Works well as part of a team as demonstrated by respectful interactions, assuming fair share or work, communicating directly (avoiding gossip), approaches constructive criticism with a learning attitude.
- Participates in training and meetings and sets goals for professional growth.
Supervision
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School Degree required.
- Ability to implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to work as a productive member of a team with fellow staff and volunteers
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
- Courses in Early childhood development
- Prior experience working with youth
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Multilingual
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The job requires walking, standing, bending, turning, reaching, talking, listening; works in a clean, well-lit, heated and ventilated building. May work outside.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high energy level, be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities and effectively communicate with a variety of audiences in various settings.
