The ReStore is open Wednesday - Saturday, 10am-5:00pm.
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following day-to-day store operations;
- Pricing and display of items.
- Opening and closing procedures
- Assisting customers as they shop, including answering questions, locating items, loading purchases, and unloading donations that are being dropped off at the store.
- Proficient in operating the cash register.
- Helps maintain organization and cleanliness in the ReStore and its facilities including the store floor, bathrooms, common spaces, sidewalks, and parking lot.
- Assists with snow removal and routine exterior cleanup.
Education and Experience:
- Interest in working with a fast-paced nonprofit making a difference in our community
- Valid State of Michigan License and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., squat, bend, and climb in/out of truck on a regular basis
- Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
- Knowledge of furniture moving and safety techniques is helpful
- Retail and service industry experience preferred
The ReStore's mission is to generate revenue through the sale of donated building materials and household items to support the building of safe and affordable housing for people in our community. Through its efforts, the ReStore facilitates recycling, minimizes waste, provides low-cost home improvement items, and increases Habitat's visibility in our community. Must be a positive team player with the ability to engage and communicate with donors, staff, and volunteers with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions. Must possess excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Must be dependable and self-motivated. Must be committed to maintaining a safe working environment. Passionate about solving housing insecurity issues and working in the nonprofit industry.
