Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County is seeking 3 enthusiastic individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of youth, families, and our community to join our team as Youth Development Professional for the academic 25-26 year.

Youth Development Professionals will work with school-aged youth and in a licensed childcare environment during our after-school and non-school day programming.

Training is provided! Meals provided!

Location: Mckenzie Family Club

Title: Youth Development Professional

Reports to: Program Director

Pay Range: $16.00-$17.50/hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 1:30pm-6pm. 12:30pm-6pm Thursdays

Position Description:

The School Age Lead Teacher leads an assigned group of children ages 5-12 years old through fun, engaging and meaningful activities. The Lead Teacher plans and implements activities, follows behavior management techniques, ensures classroom organization, and leads a quality Club experience for children in our program. The Lead Teacher will work with school-aged youth ages 5-12 during after school hours. This position may include very occasional evenings/weekend hours to accommodate special events, field trips, and community programs. The Lead Teacher is also expected to be flexible and adaptable, taking on other duties to support the organization's objectives. 

Responsibilities Include:

Prepare Youth for Success: 30%

Create a positive environment that fosters inclusivity and supports childrens' needs.
Provide positive guidance, role modeling, and daily support to children.
Promote and ensure program participation.

Program Development and Implementation 30%

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging activities for youth (5-12 years of age), ensuring academic success with grant-funded outcomes are being met.
Ensure you classroom maintains the measures of a high quality program which includes preparedness, structure and organization

Maintain a Safe Environment: 30%

Always ensure the physical and emotional safety of children.
Always adhere to all regulations as specified in DCF 251 and BGCDC policies.
Provide site and sound supervision to children.
Follow all tracking and attendance procedures.
Administer first-aid and complete necessary documentation.
Always uphold the appearance of the Club through a sanitary and organized program space.

Ensure a Professional Work Environment: 10%

Maintain an environment that supports volunteers and community partners.
Contributing to the positive team environment through program collaboration, work attendance, and active participation in staff meetings and training (daily, weekly, and organizational).
Participate in the Young Star program evaluation process.
Maintain a professional appearance and communicate professionally to effectively represent the Boys & Girls Clubs brand.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to work with youth from ages 5-12
Problem-Solving Skills
Leadership abilities in a school age classroom
Able to act as a Field Trip Supervision
At least 18 years of age
Eligibility as a Caregiver by the Department of Children and Families
Successful completion of drug test, physical examination.
The ability and desire to work with youth in a variety of settings.
Strong verbal, written, and communication skills.
