Summary/Objective
We are looking for a Finance Manager in the Sacramento area that will lead day-to-day accounting operations and support financial planning. This role involves financial reporting, budgeting, maintaining internal controls, and financial analysis to support decision-making. The Finance Manager will ensure financial compliance, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to the company’s long-term success.
Essential Functions
Compliance and Reporting
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll, and bank reconciliations for SWC and ERICA grants
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and relevant financial regulations.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for SWC and ERICA grants
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and other consultants as needed
Financial Planning and Oversight
- Support the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and long-range planning.
- Establish contract estimates in Quickbooks to enable tracking of work completed on projects
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to leadership.
Team Collaboration
- Interface with Operations team to support Revenue billing and recognition
- Help implement tools, systems, and processes to enhance team performance.
Executive Partnership
- Partner with the executive team to set financial targets aligned with company strategy.
- Support business planning with financial modeling, performance metrics, and risk assessments.
- Participate in strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting

- High level of attention to detail and organizational ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage)

Supervisory Responsibility
This position may supervise accounting or finance staff as assigned.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time, remote work-from-home position operating in a virtual office setting. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Team members are expected to be logged in and accessible throughout the workday to support consistent communication and workflow. Breaks and a lunch period can be taken as needed, with appropriate coordination to ensure availability. The role involves regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and digital communication tools.

Travel
This position requires mandatory travel within the state of California for annual Employment Training Panel meeting, plus for bi-annual team retreats. These retreats are essential for team building, strategic planning, and implementation.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred
- 5+ years of progressive financial experience, including supervisory experience
- Experience in nonprofit, government contract, or grant accounting is a plus
