Title: Locker Room Monitor & Driver
Location: Portland Clubhouse
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine (BGCSM): Rewarding part-time position for a fun, high-energy, versatile team player working with the Clubhouse team to monitor member locker rooms, assist with laundry services and transport members from school to the Club.
POSITION START DATE: Sept 2, 2025
Position Summary: BGCSM helps kids and teens every day by providing a safe place for them to dream big, learn lots, find their voice, have fun, and grow into great adults. The Locker Room Monitor & Driver is responsible for accommodating members’ needs as they relate to BGCSM’s pool and locker amenities and transport members safely to and from the Club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures that facilities are kept neat, clean, and in safe condition at all times.
- Monitor members’ use of facilities, making sure that they do not endanger themselves at BGCSM’s facilities.
- Notify Unit Director or Lifeguard when facilities need servicing/repairing.
- Wash and dry towels and bathing suits with onsite washer and dryer; replenish locker room supplies as needed.
- Reports observed safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures to a Unit Director, immediately.
- Assist Lifeguard on pool deck when needed.
- Always maintain awareness of who is using the Locker room at all times and reports any suspicious behavior that may put staff or members in danger.
- Ensure program areas are safe and that equipment is in good working condition.
- Drive 15 passenger van to transport members from school to the Club.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 21 or older and hold a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
- Experience supervising youth and teens in an education program setting.
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Valid working papers
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with youth age 5-18, preferred.
- Bi-lingual in Portuguese, Lingala, French or Somali, helpful
- Ability to use commercial washer and dryer
- Ability to drive a 15 passenger van
- Flexible and willing to contribute, when necessary, on projects outside of own department
Compensation and benefits:
- Part Time, hourly non-exempt
- Monday-Friday 1:30p-6p
- Up to 5 days Maine Earned Paid Leave annually, based on hours worked.
Work Environment including physical requirements:
- Locker Room/Pool deck environment
- Must be able to lift, carry, reach, grab, bend, push or pull up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
- May be required to stand for long periods of time of at least 4 hours per day
- Ability to drive 15 passenger van
