The Transition Class Instructor is responsible for providing the required post-secondary transition and /or education for students who have cognitive and/or physical disabilities.

About the Role
As a Transition Coach, you’ll work under the guidance of the ATTIC Director and Instructors to support students as they transition from high school to employment. You’ll provide support in both classroom and community job settings—helping students grow their independence, master vocational skills, and advocate for themselves in the real world.
You’ll work one-on-one or in small groups with students, helping them navigate daily challenges and develop key life and work-readiness skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coach students in classroom, community, and job-site settings
- Support skill-building in areas like communication, job readiness, self-advocacy, and daily living tasks
- Use creative thinking to support student success in diverse settings
- Collect notes and track progress (training provided)
- Collaborate with the ATTIC team to develop effective teaching strategies
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all students
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time position that follows the school year: September through mid-June, 3days/week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Two shift options are available:
- Morning Shift: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 1:15 PM – 4:45 PM

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or in the process of obtaining diploma.
- The desire and willingness to work with a team to teach young adults how to do vocational, independent skills and self advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills as well as creative thinking and problem solving skills.
- The ability to take notes and track data. Training will be provided.
- First Aid/CPR Certification required. Organization will sign up after joining.
- Bi-Lingual in Spanish/ any other languages is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and creatively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able and willing to learn in both formal and informal settings.
- Must understand and demonstrate the importance of ethical considerations in the field of human services.
- Ability to pass Washington State Background check, SDHS background check or others as required by funding source.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent standing, walking and sitting and driving.
- Pushing, pulling, crouching and reaching as required.
- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- May assist clients with toileting needs.
- May work in in various office environments depending on the job site.
