United Way of Utah County 2-1-1 is a free, confidential referral and information service that helps connect people to local resources, programs and human services. United Way 2-1-1 provides people with information and support- whether financial, domestic, health or disaster-related. We believe in treating others with compassion and with quality customer service as we help them navigate difficult circumstances. We are looking for help during United Way’s seasonal programs, Sub for Santa and VITA, which occur from October 1st , 2025 – April 15th , 2026.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Navigate resource database to assist callers with appropriate referrals, whose needs may include but are not limited to health, housing, food assistance, mental health etc.
- Become knowledgeable of resources and services in the community to provide accurate and relevant information to callers
- Engage in and support other United Way internal programs
- Help with additional United way seasonal projects, as needed (Sub for Santa & VITA)
- Assist with in-person walk-ins: Including resource seekers and donations
Qualifications:
- Skilled in customer service and problem solving
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, or minimum 1-2 years related experience in human service, non-profit or another related filed
- Spanish speaker is a plus
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals with diverse backgrounds, needs and communication styles
- Provide active listening, empathy and other customer service techniques
- Explore referral options and provide support to clients in meeting their specific needs
- Ability to learn computer programs and software quickly
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Enjoys working in a team environment
Work Schedule: We are hiring for two positions, Shift 1 is Monday-Friday, 9:00am-1:00pm, Shift 2 is Monday – Friday 1:00-5:00pm
Seasonal Dates: October 1st , 2025 to April 15th , 2026
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr, based on experience
Physical Activity: In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time sitting, walking, listening/speaking, writing and operating a personal computer. At times, the employee may be required to drive an automobile to attend meetings within the community. They are expected to lift and carry office records and supplies up to 15 lbs. on an occasional basis.
