Position Summary:
Scouting America is seeking caring, motivated individuals to help deliver engaging and meaningful youth programs in Salinas schools. Program Specialists are to lead after-school Cub Scout programs in 14 elementary schools in Salinas.
This is your chance to help bring Scouting to kids who have never experienced it before — and get paid to do it.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Den Leader in an after-school setting:
- Lead 3 den meetings (K–1st, 2nd–3rd, 4th–5th grades) every Monday
- Use lesson plans and ready-to-go activities provided by Scouting America
- Help youth learn skills, build character, and have fun
- Spend 1 hour a week preparing for the next session
Job Details:
- When: Mondays, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM (excluding school holidays)
- Prep Time: 1 additional paid hour per week
- Pay: $20 per hour
- Location: One of 14 elementary schools in Salinas
- Commitment: Weekly during the school year

Requirements:
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: 48 college credit units or an Associate’s Degree (especially in education, recreation, or a related field)
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Experience working with school-aged youth in a school, after-school, or camp setting is strongly preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills required, including typing, using the internet, and managing files
- Must be enthusiastic about helping children grow in confidence, character, and leadership
