About The Role:
In collaboration with FPHNY, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Program Advisor to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation for a range of public health programs. This position will also be responsible for identifying new grants and funding opportunities, as well as assisting with the grant application process. This position plays a critical role in advancing evidence-based strategies, strengthening program impacts, improving outcomes, and promoting health equity across our community.
About the Program:
The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems (BEHS), a bureau within the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), is devoted to improving population health by supporting and promoting primary care for all New Yorkers. BEHS also operates the New York City Regional Electronic Adoption Center for Health (NYC REACH) by assisting providers in New York City through practice transformation, quality improvement initiatives, and other support services, such as Meaningful Use support, revenue cycle management, and data security. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the acquisition of new grant opportunities, including grant writing and research functions.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with external stakeholders related to new grant opportunities.
- Develop and design strategies and systems to address specific program goals.
- Design and oversee evaluation frameworks and logic models for specific programs.
- Lead the development of performance metrics and data collection protocols aligned with public health goals.
- Advise on quantitative and qualitative data evaluation to assess program effectiveness and impact.
- Produce comprehensive program reports and briefs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance and training to program managers on program protocols, methods, and tools.
- Collaborate with health systems, community-based organizations, and academic partners on participatory strategies.
- Integrate health equity and cultural competence into all program activities.
Requirements:
- Clinical degree.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Sciences, Evaluation Sciences, or related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation, preferably in a public health or nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in grant writing functions.
- Strong knowledge of public health frameworks, social determinants of health, and equity-centered evaluation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization.
