Position Title: Communications Coordinator
Reports To: CEO
Location: Pocono Family YMCA 809 Main Street, Stroudsburg PA 18360
Status: Part-Time
Position Summary: The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in promoting the YMCA’s mission, programs, and community impact through clear, consistent, and positive messaging. This position supports the Y by managing communications, maintaining brand consistency, building media and community relationships, and representing the Y at events. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, detail-oriented, and able to respond quickly and professionally in fast-moving situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all YMCA materials, publications, and messaging are consistent, accurate, and aligned with brand standards.
- Conduct quality control reviews on communications before release.
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, community partners, and other organizations.
- Coordinate and attend community functions, speaking engagements, and special events as a representative of the Y.
- Support positive storytelling and public relations that highlight the Y’s programs and community impact.
- Train select employees and volunteers on The Y's messaging to align with brand standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Comfort with public speaking and representing the Y in community settings.
- Flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as needed for events.
Hours & Compensation
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week, with some flexibility based on events and organizational needs.
- Compensation: negotiable per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Remote work available
