1. Introduction

Laguna Ocean Foundation (LOF) is seeking a qualified Communications Consultant to assess and enhance the Foundation’s external communications strategy. The consultant will focus on improving message consistency, audience engagement, and brand coherence across platforms. This engagement represents Phase I of a three-phase initiative to strengthen LOF’s public presence. The selected consultant will deliver a communications audit, strategic recommendations, and visual mockups to guide future implementation.

2. Background

Laguna Ocean Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of Laguna Beach’s ocean and coastal resources. Our communications currently span a website, e-newsletters, and multiple social media platforms. As LOF enters a new phase of organizational and programmatic growth, we aim to refine our narrative, increase community engagement, and elevate our visibility.

3. Scope of Work

Task 1: Communications Audit & Strategic Recommendations
Review LOF’s website, social media, and related communications assets.
Evaluate content quality, brand consistency, visual appeal, and user experience.
Assess cross-platform alignment and message coherence.
Analyze Google Analytics and social metrics to understand user engagement.
Provide written strategic recommendations for improved integration, visibility, and effectiveness.
Task 2: Visual and Structural Guidance
Provide mockups illustrating suggested improvements to key website pages and social media content.
Include sample visuals, content revisions, and layout suggestions aligned with LOF’s brand identity.
Draw on best practices and examples preferred by LOF (to be provided during onboarding).

4. Deliverables

Comprehensive Communications Audit Report
Strategic Communications Recommendations Document
Visual Mockups for Key Web Pages and Digital Assets
One presentation of findings to LOF staff and/or board

5. Timeline

The project should begin upon contract award, with a final deadline for deliverables no later than August 1, 2025. Estimated project duration: 2–4 weeks.
