Computer Science Students/Techies Needed to Coach Teams for Youth Hackathon
- STEM4US!, a leading nonprofit engaging youth of color around cyber and other STEM careers, is planning a Youth Hackathon on Saturday & Sunday, July 26-27, 2025.
- The online event offers elementary and middle school students the chance to learn about coding.
- Using software tools we teach the students, they can expect to work in teams to build an AI‑powered farm app, master drone piloting, and craft a portfolio piece admissions officers love.
- Hackathon teams can win cash and prizes for their efforts.

Position Description: We're looking for developers, hackers, and/or techies of any kind who enjoy mentoring youth. Coaches are needed to attend Hackathon sessions and work with teams to fine tune their projects. It's expected that 5-10 students will be assigned to each Hackathon team.
The Hackathon sessions take place Saturday July, 26, 2025, 10 AM - 7PM (EST) and Sunday, July 27, 2025, 10 AM - 5 PM (EST). Coaches should be prepared to spend at least three (3) hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning to assist their teams.

Requirements:
- Availability to participate in Hackathon on Saturday, July 26 from 10 AM - 7 PM (EST), Sunday, July 27 from 10 AM - 5PM, and availability to provide up to 3 hours of coaching after 7 pm Saturday night.
- Availability for two 1 hour training sessions in advance of Hackathon
- Use of desktop or laptop computer (no tablets) with operating system preferably from within the last 3 years.
- Home internet connection (that is not a mobile hotspot)
- Basic background check (to protect our youth)
- US residents only: Must reside and be eligible for work in the United States
