Summary:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Boys Volleyball Coach to lead middle school athletes through an exciting and competitive fall season. This position is perfect for someone passionate about youth development, volleyball fundamentals, and building strong, respectful teams.

Locations:

Looking for a Coach for the Following Schools:

· Aviara Oaks Middle School

· Calavera Hills Middle School

· Valley Middle School

Season Duration: September 9 – November 8

Season Snapshot:

Tryouts Start: September 9
Season Ends: November 8
Practices & Games: 2–4 days/week
Wave Game Days: Played at WAVE Volleyball Facility
Team Bonding Event & Tournament Included

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all practices, games, and tournament activities for the middle school boys’ volleyball team
Plan drills, scrimmages, and development-focused sessions for athletes of all levels
Coach all games (home and at Wave facility)
Supervise players from arrival to closing (including travel and post-game supervision)
Maintain positive communication with players, families, and Club leadership
Ensure proper equipment usage and court safety
Attend a team dinner and end-of-season events

Practice & Game Summary:

Practices: Mostly Tuesdays & Thursdays, with some Mondays and a few Wednesdays
Games: Mostly Mondays and Wednesdays, some Tuesdays, with Saturday, Nov 8 for the tournament

Sample Daily Schedule (Practice Days):

2:30 PM – Coach Arrival
2:45–4:15 PM – Practice Block
4:15–4:30 PM – Closing & Equipment Storage

Game Days: Typically, 5:15–7:00 PM, arrive 30–45 minutes early

Requirements:

Prior volleyball coaching or playing experience highly preferred
Must be 18+ with reliable transportation
Passionate about youth sports and team development
Strong communication and leadership skills
Willing to coach evenings and travel to off-site games
Background check required

Program Highlights:

8 total WAVE-hosted games
6 home-hosted games
End-of-season Carlsbad Tournament & Team Pizza Party
Coaching support provided by Athletic Director and full Club staff
Equipment, uniforms, scheduling, and facilities managed by the Club
