Make a Splash—Lead the Way to Wellness!

Are you passionate about fitness, community, and helping others feel their best? The YMCA is looking for a dynamic Water Exercise Instructor to bring energy, encouragement, and expertise to our aquatics program.

As a leader of group water fitness classes, you'll create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Whether you’re guiding experienced swimmers or beginners, you’ll help each individual make progress toward their personal health and wellness goals—all while having fun in the water!

What You’ll Do:

Lead fun and effective water fitness classes designed for a variety of fitness levels.
Create a positive, community-oriented class environment where everyone feels welcome and supported.
Adapt instruction to meet individual needs and cultural backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive experience.
Engage participants by answering questions and helping them set and achieve personal wellness goals.
Celebrate milestones, encourage persistence, and inspire members to lead healthier lifestyles.
Stay informed on current wellness trends to deliver relevant, evidence-based instruction.
Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure safety through adherence to YMCA policies and emergency procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

Certification in water fitness or group fitness instruction (YMCA Foundations, ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM preferred).
Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or willingness to obtain).
1+ years of experience leading group wellness or water exercise classes preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for building community and promoting wellness.
Ability to lead classes with enthusiasm and adapt to the physical and cultural needs of participants.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to conduct classes and activities.
Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
Constant exposure to elements and temperatures consistent with indoor pool environment including water and chlorine.
